Overkart 64 allows two types of Time Trial runs; shortcut and non-shortcut. Both classes are ranked separately. Submissions that do not align to the rules are not accepted. Read the about page to learn more about Overkart 64.
The finish line in Mario Kart 64 extends an arbitrary, unequal distance to the left and right of the first Path Marker. Sharp turns navigating around the edge of this range can result in lap times of less than a second. Any manuever taking advantage of this finish line characteristic is not allowed. This rule will vary on tracks due to their design.
Shortcut runs are any runs that implement glitches, cheats, or skips to accomplish shorter than average times. This includes any jumps or locations that manipulate Lakitu placements, jumping over barriers, jumping along cliff walls, clipping through geometry or navigating through/over Out-of-Bounds Areas whose traversal was not intended as the Course Path or an Alternate Route.
Non-Schortcut runs navigate within the intended course layout. Alternate Routes and straying from the track is allowed. However, making any maneuvers that fall into the shortcut category is not allowed. For example, navigating through Barriers or Out-of-Bounds Areas is not allowed.
